The winter months can lead to some unwanted situations for everyone in Ireland. The longer nights, colder climates and difficult transport conditions can affect people in all walks of life. The country nearly went into shut down last year as a result of the snow, leaving people stranded all around the country. Crime is expected to rise when the clocks go back this weekend, giving opportunistic thief’s the chance to break into house and properties which aren’t secured properly. With some simple tips and items, the winter hardships may not be so bad!

1. Lock up all your property…both inside and out. People will usually remember to leave a light on and lock their main premises, however garages and sheds can be targeted if not locked correctly. A simple sensor light or padlock may be enough to deter offenders.
2. Melt ice all around your premises…or face the consequences! Ice can be avoided easily by taking the proper precautions. A simple bag of de-icing salt can help you all around your proper which the harsh conditions hit.
3. Be prepared for heavily snowfall. Everyone remembers how unprepared we were for snow in 2010, with layer upon layer of snow building in residential areas. Snow Shovels can help you quickly remove any snow that falls before it starts to build up. 8. Again to save energy and money, simply put more clothing on then blast the heater. Several layers of lightweight clothing will keep you warmer than a single jumper.
9. If you have a pond in your garden, place a football in water overnight. In the morning just remove it to leave a hole which will allow pet fish to breathe and birds to drink from.
